Jack London
Has anyone read read much of Jack London's work? I've only read 'The Iron Heel' but I love it and have read it over and over again several times. He gets a lot of criticism from the cosmopolitan left for his alleged racism but I think a lot of it comes from middle-class snobbery; he admitted that his socialist convictions were drawn from genuine compassion for the plight of the proletariat than from deep study of Marxist theory.
'The Iron Heel' is fairly short, with an interesting framing device; it is structured as the once lost journal of a revolutionary leader's wife recovered centuries after in a utopian-socialist society.

Re: Jack London
I was reading his short stories like a month ago or so but I haven read The Iron Heel yet, I prefer to get into a writer by the short stories and then go for the novels.
