hi all first quick question

Can anyone recommend any good books to get me started into finding out more about social nationalism

it is a very new idea to me and must say did not think it could be possible to combine socialism and nationalism.....

sorry if there is a thread on this but did try search and no results

The best place to start from near scratch is the Communist Manifesto and other readings from Marx.

There are very few book-length writings on left-wing nationalism. The national question has, of course, been addressed by a number of socialist and communist theoreticians throughout history, but usually in essay format. With that said, my favorite essay on the topic is James Connolly's "Socialism and Nationalism" (1897). I think you'll find it quite useful for grasping the basic tenets of left-wing nationalism.
