Ideological Bias in the TED Talks

To those of you unfamiliar with it, the TED conferences feature short lectures on everything from emerging technologies to the latest sociological theories. As I've followed the talks over the years, I've noticed a definite bias in their selection of topics and speakers, particularly with respect to those subjects with political implications. Thus, I wasn't surprised when I learned that the organizers of the conferences decided not to post a lecture recently given by the bourgeois liberal Nick Hanauer on their popular YouTube channel. In his talk, Hanauer focused on wealth inequality in the United States and proposed modest remedies to the problem, e.g., a slightly higher top marginal tax rate. Apparently, this subject was simply too "controversial" for TED to support—lest they risk alienating their wealthy donors.

You know that neoliberalism has gained ideological hegemony amongst the bourgeoisie when such a standard Keynesian analysis is considered "controversial." Now that the video has gone viral in spite of TED's refusal to post it, it will be interesting to see if they actually end up adding it to their YouTube channel.
