Hyeonseo Lee: My escape from North Korea

Quite a sad story. I'd love to see Maoist Rebel or some other Stalinoid with an authoritarian fetish respond to this just so I could laugh at their stupidity.

Juche is an idiotic, backwards ideology, and i'm totaly against authoritarian regimes, but this ted talk reeks of propaganda. A million people died? Really? And how does she know that? She was only 14 when she fled, if we are to believe her story, who got those numbers and how?....

It is extremely hard to flush out the propaganda and see the truth with the whole North Korea situation. Something definitely isn't right about that country though, that's for sure.

Why should we uncritically accept the recollection of an alleged political prisoner whose story has been delivered to us by Western journalists?

According to the International Centre for Prison Studies, the United States contains the highest percentage of prisoners among nations where it could be verified. It can also boast one of the most violent prison systems. Then there is the island paradise of Guantanamo Bay.
