Northern Ireland- your views?
I would be interested to know what your views are the situation in general.
I would like a genuine peace process among ordinary people of the six counties but as things stand that is pretty utopian.

Referendumin in every county for inclusion in the union.this would allow for nationalist areas like Armah to join the republic.
If the union breaks up an independent NI.

No one would agree to the first because it would leave large pro-Union minorities in the remaining counties and would probably leave only two counties (going on real figures of how people actually vote and act as opposed to surveys by unionist sources) within the union which would be unsustainable.
And an Independent NI makes a lot of sense- the problem with it is distrust on both sides.

Referendum with four options
1) A united Ireland
2) Remain part of the UK, whilst the UK is in existence.
3) An independent Northern Ireland
4) A united Ireland with devolved government in the north which has close ties to Britain

The unionist minorities can always move to to the county's where unionists are in the majority,or as part of the deal with the nationalists and the republic we could have some some sort of agreement for the the unionists to live autonomously in those county's that have joined the republic.

As much as we hate each a lot of the time we are one people- neither fully of the ROI or the UK. Complete separation Im not sure anyone wants. It could come to that though; however that would be a tragedy.
