The Zapatista Army of National Liberation Empty The Zapatista Army of National Liberation

The Zapatistas seem to me to be consistent with our beliefs, not to mention providing one of the few examples of democratic socialism in the real world for us to point to. Does anyone know anything to contradict or support this? Even their coverage in the mainstream media has a hard time attacking them, apart from accusing them of kidnapping a man and disapproving of their opposition to NAFTA.

I have a great deal of respect for the Zapatista National Liberation Army and support their activities in Chiapas. The socialism and nationalism they espouse is most certainly compatible with what we advocate here, and we should stand in solidarity with their struggle.

Considering the various obstacles they're facing, the economy in the territory they control is performing quite admirably. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to read much about the Zapatista National Liberation Army, but that's something which I will be remedying soon.
