Materialism

Just wondering what the forums Fellings on Materialism?

I have no how idea on traditional Marxist feeling on this Issue?

What I can see from my point of view in regards to English Folk Socialism is that the modern Globalist elite is pushing Materialism on every single human being on Mother Earth in an effort to give the Capitalist system maximum consumers in its war to enslave us to debt.Also I feel it hopes to destroy every culture worldwide and create a monculture of idle selfish people who will never lifty a finger for anybody other than themselves in the vain hope of being the first person among a peer group of similar sheep to have the latest Iphone in effect becomeing the tools of our tools.You get the Idea



How do we stop this?.in my opinion there is three solutions

1.First step introudce left wing nationalism of course

2.Return to our own ethnic cultures

3.Reatain and reintroduces (as far as people are willing) spirituality into our everyday lives (in the best case of Europeans our ethnic religions or Christianity at a push) how this manifests itself isnt really importiant I dont care if a European finds his spirituality in Islam anymore that I care if an Asian finds it in Santa Maria for example.With a guiding force or guiding princaples in our everday lives I belive we will find ourselves stronger as a people and in individual terms perhaps more ethical ect.

Well, from what I gathered Materialism and Historical Materialism are pretty in-depth subjects. Many historical observations made from a historical materialist perspective are completely valid and a great examination of history; however, I have read from Marxists/Communists that materialism implies that everything that exists has to have been proven by science and it is in denial of all spiritual and metaphysical forces. As a religious person myself; obviously I have problems with this analysis. As far as I know, Gravity is still a "theory" not proven by science, so it doesn't exist. Obviously we know it does. I think materialism fails in this aspect.

As a person who owns a smart phone himself, I do agree that materialism meaning the obsession with material objects has gone way too far. While they are necessary for our happiness and survival, I believe humans by nature are spiritual and anti-materialistic beings. They are simply born into a material world where objects are seen as having social power. Which marxists also object to.

I agree, and there can actually be many religious justifications for socialism. Look at Gaddaffi and Libya and Islamic socialists. The teachings of Mohammed and Christ can be seen as just charity, but it is definitely about helping the lower classes and is against the "rich man" materialist notions. The Strasser brothers are another, devout Christians and socialists. That obviously doesn't stop me from supporting a secular regime, but, I believe religion and spirituality has a good place in human activity. Also science and religion do not negate each other.

In fact id say Materialism is the number one problem for the western world at the moment.Take the august riots in England,People took gadgets not food or medical supplies.A lack of spirituality and folk spirit mixed with materialism and the self destruction of capitalism itself would lead to a Ragnarok style (if not the Ragnarok itself) situation in western countries as people go bat shit just for stuff.

No man will have

No matter the situation a ethnic/cultural group can ride these kind of storms out if they stick together.However at present with materialism rife it wouldnt be the case at the moment.

I don't think the problem is as much materialism as it is nepotism and cronyism. Obviously people need certain things.

Well, it is arguable that we don't need things like 50 inch TVs and smart phones or sports cars. Furthermore the crux of the argument is in protest against the equating of owning these items with personal happiness. Capitalism with its adverts makes it seem like these items will give us some sort of personal emotional fulfillment when in reality they don't.

Of course but the current system has created a situation where this has become a religion almost.

The problem is an extreme materialism, I agree. However to completely deny any material philosophy is to sort of disarm the working class, because workers need to realize what is being taken away from them by other people's greed.

Disarm them from stuff sold to them by capitalists and supported by muppets (ie celebrities) to keep them in wage slavery in the vain hope they may attain some more stuff.Nah im alright.People should have stuff like laptops TVs cars books ect ect none of us have a drama with that its the current method by which these goods and services are pushed on the people that is the problem in my opinion.
