The above is the website for 'International Socialists' the Canadian sector of an international alliance of (to some degree) revolutionary socialist movements known as the International Socialist Tendency. Does anyone know anything about them? The platform of the International Socialists sounds closer to our ideas of revolutionary socialism than, say, the Communist Party of Canada, and despite the adjective 'International', they state support for movements of national liberation and the nationalists of Quebec and some Native tribes.
Speaking as a Canadian trying to find a socialist organisation to work with, can anyone recommend/advise against contact with these people or the larger group of which they're a part? And if not, can you suggest any Canadian socialist organisations with which I can work? I'd rather not have to build one from scratch if I don't have to (although I could develop my public speaking & debating skills and just take one over ).

Re: International Socialists
Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with the Canadian Left, so I cannot recommend an organization to you.
As you noted, the International Socialists' platform seems slightly better than what's typical on the Left, but I wouldn't read too far into their support of national liberation movements. In fact, it's actually pretty standard for cosmopolitan socialist and communist groups to support self-determination for arbitrarily chosen oppressed nationalities. What distinguishes we left-wing nationalists from them is our belief that the self-determination of nations is a fundamental right applicable to all peoples.

Re: International Socialists
Fair point. I think I will get involved nevertheless, since I can't find a better socialist movement to work with.

All right. Let us know how it turns out with them, comrade.
