Out of the 850,000 women aged 15-45, Albanians sold off 35% of the total (taking an average of 300,000 as the estimated number of women trafficked, estimates range from 200K to 400K).

Main destinations are: Turkey (~50%), Middle-East, Albania, Albanian areas of Macedonia, Italy, Israel.etc

Just goes to prove that capitalism has no ethnic feeling, profit is profit whatever the colour or sex.

A few years ago a book titled "The Natashas: Inside the Global Sex Trade" was published, written by Victor Malarek. I saw a story a few days ago that sex can be bought in Berlin for as little as 10 or 15 euros. The girls are East European (Moldovian, Byelorussian, Ukrainian), of course. These girls can be found in the Middle East as well, and are known generically as "Natashas." The wonders of capitalism.

Yes a large part of the the population in all former Communist ruled countries in Europe has been screwed over by Capitalism. And these women are just the most extreme examples. News like this makes me angry that there werent enough Socialist Nationalists who would have struggled against the Capitalists when the System changed.

The people had no idea. There was a massive barrage of capitalist propaganda that once the Communists were chucked out, a capitalist nirvana of coca-cola, Levi's jeans, and BMWs would shortly follow for all those emancipated from the clutches of socialism. The people themselves were curious, only knew of the West through smuggled Western goodies (clothes and electronics) and that factory of disinformation and propaganda known as Hollywood. It took some time to find out, to become disenchanted, to realise there was no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The other important point is that once the socialist alternative vanished, capitalists themselves took off the gloves and showed the predatory talons of capitalism in full glory. While there had been a credible socialist alternative around, capitalsim had had to disguise its true nature, mitigate some of its worst excesses, provide some sham of a social contract. Now the whole world faces the chill blast of unfettered capitalism.

What you say is true nevertheless I am angry that the Socialist Nationalists in countries where there was a Socialist Nationalist tradition did not step up and stage a coup. For example the Hungarist movement in Hungary emerged out of the underground as soon as the Communist government collapsed. It could have started battling the Capitalists right there and then. Instead several informants and incompetents took over the reins of leadership within the movement and reduced it to a bunch of small splinter groups that get nothing done to this day. The followers of the movement should have done more to purge those incompetents and informants out of the leadership but they did not. The end result is that while Nationalism in Hungary is more mainstream than in some other countries, it is a useless form of Nationalism. It is not Socialist like the Hungarist movement's Nationalism was. This is just one example out of many. Socialist Nationalists could have resisted more at the time but they did not. I only hope the future will turn out for the better.

Prostitution is a big problem here in the east. Not only in Moldova, also here in Ukraine. I've heard and read countless stories about sex slavery and still, I find it very disturbing. The article is very well written except one thing:

“Moldovans are a hybrid population of Russians, Romanians, Jews, Ukrainians and Bulgarians,”

This of course is pure bull shit. 'Moldovans' do not exist, they are either Romanians, Russians or Ukrainians. There of course also does not exist a "special race of women" mixed out of those three. The most beautiful girls from Moldova are the Ukrainian ones and sadly, Ukrainian Moldovan girls are also the majority of girls kidnapped from Moldova.
