Well, that is certainly a valid position to adopt on the issue of inflation, but I contend that the effect of monopolistic competition upon prices is most to blame. Just about every industry is dominated by a handful of colossal corporations (usually two or three), and the general trend is toward greater monopolization. The logic of capital accumulation dictates the gradual annexation of larger pools of capital by fewer capitalists; this induces said capitalists to demand surcharges for access to their private hoards of capital, translated into rising prices. This is a theory that is rarely analyzed, albeit tacitly accepted, by most bourgeois economists.
