Re: Interview: Senator Bernie Sanders on (Disturbing) Debt Ceiling Proposals
At this point, I welcome such measures on the part of our corporate political establishment. They are detestable, but they will invariably result in greater disenchantment amongst the proletariat and a destabilization of the system itself. Such proposals and their derived policies can only serve to spur the revolution forward. The capitalist class and its political lackeys are, in their short-sighted greed, digging their own graves. I, for one, plan upon ensuring that they rest in eternal slumber within those graves.

I think many of us revolutionary syndicalists can agree with this (Sorelian) assessment. Of course, the bourgeois liberals will argue that the overall personal cost of allowing for these sorts of draconian measures is too much for millions of people to bear. And, at a certain level, I appreciate this reasoning and recognize that my loved ones and myself will likely have to endure even greater adversity because of them.
Given the precarious state of the economy and the manner in which the contradictions of capitalism are exacerbating the overall problem, I feel these corresponding policies will indeed hasten the downfall of Western capitalism and provide us socialists with an opportunity we have lacked for generations.
