The receipt by SF would indeed be comical to witness. Jesus was, of course, a capitalist after Rand's own heart, full of rugged individualism and rational self-interest. Nobody can deny that, right?

In all seriousness, the Christian community within the United States, particularly the Protestant sects, have embraced capitalism in concerning numbers for far too long. I believe that this has much to do with the conservative "Southern strategy" adopted in the 1960s. The problem is almost nonexistent within Catholicism and Orthodoxy, where most of the religious leaders condemn capitalism as anti-human—which it is.

Now, despite the fact that most of us are secularists and atheists, I do not believe that we should needlessly alienate honest, non-fundamentalist religious people. They present themselves as a large and valuable segment of society from which to draw support.

Can you shed some more light on how you believe the conservative "Southern Strategy" impacted the ideological foundations of American evangelical Protestantism? Or am I misconstruing what you're getting at?
