"Moral Welfare State"

This is a curious article that once again demonstrates the reactionary paranoia regarding welfare.

In it, the writter tries to blame the media bias towards minorities crimes in a sort of "welfare state" in wich the racial diferences ( and their supposedly connection to the crimes ) are glossed over by the media as other types of crimes that can be perpretated by the population at large.

It is a very clever game of words, that just tries to instigate yet more irracional fears about welfare or social state in the minds of the native working class, as well as taking another hit at the "left".

Just like most countries in the West, the United Kingdom has now become a “moral welfare state” (MWS). Just like the socio-economic version, this involves helping those deficient in some way by imposing a kind of levy on the general population. Indeed, revealing the Left’s far greater success in the cultural realm than the economic, it could even be said that the MWS has made considerable progress and that now moral communism exists in the UK, where people live according to the dictum:

From each according to his morality, to each according to his depravity.

So, what is the reactionaries' proposed solutions? Modern witch-hunting and imposition of a reactionary theocracy courtesy of their favorite cult, er, ahem, I meant to say Church. Funny, aren't these the same folks that say they are for minimal government? Do they actually mean they are for minimal SECULAR government?
