Portugal? Empty Portugal?

Post by Isakenaz Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:59 am

Today we had elections here in Portugal and as expected the left was ousted.
THe "social democrats" ,that are neo liberals, won my large majority and will probably allie to CDS neo liberals and creat the most right wing government Portugal had in last 30 years.
The "socialists" had a crushing defeat.
Left block almost disapeared.

Got this from revleft, as it would seem what little Euro membership this forum had has now dwindled to 2. Crying or Very sad Mad

That post is correct, and it's bad news for portuguese workers, but excelent news for the capitalist, who can already dream of controlling such "lucrative business" like healthcare and education..

More about the Potugal election. But the most interesting thing is the comments section;

I have returned from the grave to say, "I told you so!" Now my people can see why I had to rule with such a heavy hand last century. I had to save them from the evil, rotten and corrupt socialist government that has led my once great and thriving country to economic and spiritual bankruptcy. My advice to Senhor Passos, reconsecrate Portugal to Our Lady of Fatima and the Sacred Heart of Jesus!

Sometimes you just run out of other peoples money
Communism and Socialism do not work - Government needs to stay out of trying to dictate and spread wealth. The poor would do a lot better with private charity than forced government handouts and it very possibly could get some off their fat arse
Please give this Memo to Barry out POTUS!

Say what you want about Porugal and how it got into the current fiscal mess at least it's people have accepted responsibility for it and are taking steps to fix it. Would that our own politicians would show such backbone.

Portugal and Greece both have social programs and benefits that could not be funded by there tax base. the poor get benefits but they do contribute to the economy only leach off it. benefits without equal contribution to society just causes those who to pay for the lazy.
the tax systems of both countries need reform to make those try to hide there income pay.

Un-f***ing-believable. Evil or Very Mad
