In Egypt etc, heavy handedness by the authorites was quickly condemed by The British and American Governments, wonder if they'll respond to this.

It is 5AM EST on Saturday May 28th 2011. I am scanning the U.S. version of Google News without a personalized filtering (i.e., the default setting).
On the Google News page, there is NOTHING being reported on this clash of police against Spanish protesters...EXCEPT in the peripheral list of TOP SHARED STORIES, positioned at the middle right side of the page.

That is to say, the US mainstream media is NOT giving hardly any coverage to the Spanish protests, but there have been a few outlets that have covered it in a few stories in a non-headlining non-priority tucked-in-the-back way (like the NYT), and it is only concerned people themselves who have been widely sharing these articles and spreading word about it.

Protests in the Middle-East = struggle for Democracy, maximum media coverage, maximimum Western governmental support.
Protests in Spain (or any other European state) = anti-demcratic, minimal media coverage, no Western governmental support
Hitting peacefull protesters with riot sticks in the Midle-East = wrong, authoritarian dictatorships.
Hitting peacefull protestors with riot sticks in Spain = ignored.

How much longer are we to put up with this?

Now that things are beginning to escalate, the protestors need to begin escalating their demands as well. Otherwise the government will be able to just say, "Here, we'll give you more jobs", and quell the revolutionary spirit, like in France in 1968.
