How do we develop?

This forum is a great resource, it's good talking to people about various subjects but to get things moving , what do people think we should do to get things started and start building an activist network.

I believe this completely depends on the country of which we speak.

To develop, we need go beyond forums and be active in the real world, talking to people, raising awareness and get people involved in local community action.

I think its simply acase of get out there & do what you can, either as an individual or a small local group & promote people to come here to talk with likeminded people.

I already said that we need to recover strong unions.
Being a comic book artist is my principal career option right now but getting comic creator to unonise sounds just so out of there, there never has been an union on such industry and most creators don't seem to mind.

That is the path I see but it is going to be very difficult since out generation isn't not even going to have fair jobs to start with.

Why is it soo difficult to unionise?

I think the biggest issue is that there isn't a shared work place, all comic creators work from home or a studio without ever seeing the other people of the team outside e-mails and such.
I don't know what kind of benefits do comic creators get but their salary is pretty high.
May be there is something else I will need to experience first handedly.

I been thinking about making a thread about putting my political views on my work in one way or the other, dunno what is keeping me from it.

Well, the Writer's Guild gained plenty of influence despite screenwriters being an at-home job.

Interesting but they all meet each other on the same city.
