Social Security On the Table Empty Social Security On the Table

Post by Red Aegis Tue Apr 16, 2013 12:41 pm

I would first like to say that I am glad to see Wolff on The Real News Network. I think that TRNN keeps getting better and better.

As for the meat, I would like to clarify one of the points Wolff is making in regards to 'cuts' to Social Security. He was saying that by applying the Chained-Weighted Consumer Price Interest measurement as opposed to the currently used CPI those using the program would get less increases than previously projected and that difference could be seen as a cut. It is a very real problem for retirees but it is not quite obvious and Wolff could have done a better job pointing that out for those who may not have understood the point.

I think that Social Security is something that should be defended as one of the few remaining concessions that the bourgeoisie was forced to give. This attack will, in my opinion, galvanize opposition to the ruling class and its state and possibly swing more towards an opposition viewpoint. I just hope that it is a swing to the Left and not the Right.
