Hunting
While I realize that this isn't the biggest Issue I do wonder what do you folks think of hunting?
Is it exploitation of the Evironment?
For me, I have a hard time viewing it as such as long as it is in a susatainable way. I'm not hunter myself but I do plan on taking up small game hunting in the next year or so. Mainly because I grew up eating a lot of wild meat and am now sick of the commercial crap and with new this piece of corporate brownnosery that Obama has decided to put forth I wish to disconnect myself as much possible from Corporate Agriculture. I plan on doing so gradually. I used to garden and compost with my Mother and Grandmother as a child So I have some sense of how to grow my own food. I'm certainly no Farm boy though.

Re: Hunting
Interesting question.
There are instances wherein hunting actually serves a utilitarian function (e.g., population control), but I find the act of turning an animal into a carcass aesthetically repellent, hence I do not partake in the activity.

Re: Hunting
In the 1st world I see no problem with hunting as a form of pest or population control as long as it is ecologicaly balanced,or as form of self suffiancy or as part of Rural/Folk culture.
Infact if anything people in rural areas should hunt game as much as is ecoligically balanced to soften (and I bet it wouldnt soften it much!!)the damage being done to the environment by raising large amounts of domestic cattle for the industrial food market.

Re: Hunting
I think it is good and perfectly acceptable, provided it is regulated well.
