Which organisation in the UK do people feel is the best for workers to support and build and why?

Out of the present crop there are some decent eco-socialists in the Green Party, especially the Green Left grouping within the party. The Communist Party of Britain also has a pro-worker green and socialist vision. However the is still a gulf on the left which has yet to be filled politically.
Regarding unions I do like the vision of the IWW (aka the wobblies)
