Im joining a catholic cult:-)

It happened a bit faster than I expected, but next week I am joining a catholic cult.

We will all live in a huge mansion, and I can rent out the place were I live now.

Other than bible-studies, a simple lifestyle and a vegetarian diet (I am not the only one with ambitions of letting my bank-account swell) we will avoid Internet, TV and newspapers, so from Monday and on I cant post here anymore.

My head is pumped full of info anyway - so this is something I am looking forward to.

Things like what to name our selves and if we will wear robes or not - is still a bit in the blue, we might agree on it during the weekend.

I have posted this message on both forums were I write, this one and politics-forum.

On this forum, I feel like adding that it was great fun both discussing socialism and marxism with you guys, and even more fun defeating those neo-nazis from the Iron March.

Special thanks to Celtiberian and Red Scare, who actually bother to go through the jungle of bullshit and give proper responses to every odd sentence of bullshit they cough up - I am way to lazy for that, so it is good that somebody bothers.

I will probably drop by here again on Friday or Saturday to answer any responses, but on Sunday we are off with the buss.

Congratulations! Which order are you joining? I once considered such a thing myself, but that isn't an option now . I wish you well.

We are all a bunch of amateurs, so we don`t really belong to an order at this point. (Neither do we have a educated priest among us, so the project is a bit anarchistic, and we have a lot to study)

But once we have turned into disciplined monks, we will probably ask for papal recognition. (This might take a few years) We will study the practices of big monastries elsewhere, and go from there. We will probably also study the rules of St Benedict closely, as this is a set of guidelines that many monasteries follow.

You being a Norwegian I had assumptions of you being some kind of satanic black metal viking, so this is quite unexpected.

And Red, does your (past?) faith make us the Catholic-born trio or not?

I'm actually not baptized, and come from a family of atheists, so I`m very far away from being catholic-born.

This is something I must do something about some day, but right now I`m busy cleaning my way out of my apartment, and then we have this huge, rotten mansion to fix (it will probably take a year to get everything in order)

He means that he wants to start an new order of catholic monks with some friends. I'm an atheist but he isn't hurting anyone. The cult thing was a joke.

Remember: I was always here as a guest, interested - but not one of you. Specially not now that I am heading in a completely different path.

But certain things - such as the commitment to peace (The pope was very skeptical about Bush I have heard, and he is also pro-Syria, wanting the ruling party as a part of the peace-process) and absence of double-standards, is similar for socialism and catholicism.

Whilst I disagree with Catholicism on many Biblical interpretations, from a social standpoint they're far superior to many other institutions. Canon has become less of a dictatorial decree, and more of a guideline. And most temples/churches have very little central authority.

Of course historically this is completely contrary to Catholicism and what built it up. But in some ways Protestants made it worse by dividing into more and more offshoots of each other, resulting in more conflict, more tension, and more gaps between people then the all encompassing word of The Pope. I guess the simplest answer I can give is good luck, and I hope it makes you happy.
