I have a confession: I watch Current TV. It's pro-capitalist, pro-democrat, and extremely liberal in every possible regard. There are reasons why I watch it since it's not complete crap despite the negatives but that isn't the point of this thread. Knowing what I described the channel as it should come as no surprise to anyone that since the Colorado Massacre they have been chanting, "gun control, gun control, gun control, . . .". It's much more than that though, it's several hours a day. Needless to say I haven't watched it lately since whenever I turn it on that's what I hear.
Going by the U.S. constitution, the people of the USA should be able to arm themselves to the point of being able to forcefully overthrow the government. All their shock techniques do not count as logical arguments. There is another fundamental assumption that they make that I think conservatives do not: a revolution may be needed down the line. Though conservatives think so for reactionary reasons they know that the government may need to be overthrown eventually, where as liberals seem to think that there will never be any need for change not involving reformism. So, going by their own rules - not that it matters - excessive gun control and limiting things such as high-capacity magazines is against what they should be defending, what they swore to defend, the constitution.
Of course I have my own reasons for wanting possible forceful revolution open, but that too is my right under their own rules - not that they follow them.

comrade i see no crime here as i myself will watch tv and see many good things coming out of it regardless of the systemic bias,(local news, educational programs etc) but as you said is not the point in this thread. as for the gun controll scare its bound to happen(colombine anyone?) and should just be ignored.at most it will result in more restrictions on assult weapons and "destructive devices" and the other catagories created by the nationa firearms act, so unless you happen to own a arsenal like myself, you really have no need to worry for your gun "rights".

i think you are getting a little caught up in pointless parlimentry politics here comrade but the ironic hipocracy that exists in our politics is quite entertaining at times.

the 2nd amendment to the constitution is certainly in our favor, but the us state could easily disarm its population using the military force it has. so its usefullness is dependent opon the continued existence of bourgoise democracy(as to how long that will last i do not know)
