Does Culture Evolve?

In the following lecture, acclaimed geneticist Richard C. Lewontin discusses why it's incorrect to incorporate evolutionary theory into analysis of cultural variance and progress. He critiques several methods which attempt to provide Darwinian explanations of culture, particularly Richard Dawkins's sociobiological "meme" theory, and stresses why it's important to factor the history of class power and imperialism into any study of culture.
