A libertarian perspective indeed! The authors main objection to the political duopoly in the United States is that the Democrats and Republicans are both too 'fiscally liberal' for their taste. Still, I appreciate the general sentiment against such a controlled political atmosphere.
Reformists would do well to demand: (1) campaign finance reform; (2) proportional representation; and (3) demanding that all political parties, which receive enough signatures to be placed on an official ballot, are rationed an equal portion of public funding and air time for their campaigning. Of course, the moment these reforms (were they ever to be implemented) start to pose a serious threat to capital, you could expect them to be abolished—which is why socialism should never be expected to be achieved through such reformist tactics.
