This a curious situation in wich the japanese government will place fines against companies who have overweight employees, because of healthcare bills:

A healthy society is obviously beneficial for a variety of reasons, but there are alternative methods to encourage decent diets, e.g., increasing the sales taxes on fatty foods, having the government increase subsidies for the cultivation of healthier food products (thus increasing their supply and driving down prices), and so forth.

Forcing capitalist companies to pay fines for overweight employees is actually a pretty progressive tax, though I worry that it may just result in companies starting to lay off otherwise decent workers.
