FOR BRITAIN, FOR SOCIALISM.

introduction

Practical experience has taught the working class how to struggle against capitalism; how we should have a strategy and link our tactics to it, while being flexible in approach. It shows how, if we are weak, we should fight lesser battles until we are strong enough to fight the bigger war. How to stay united, not over-reaching ourselves. How to defend our leaders when they are in danger of being picked off, but also how to avoid opportunists. How to be bold, to surprise the other side, but also knowing when to retreat.
These general principles always hold true, but the working class has to change and adapt its strategy and tactics in response to the latest actions of the enemy. Old forms of struggle may become redundant, or less effective. New tactics must be developed in response to new circumstances. In Britain Blair and Brown took up the cudgels created for them. They started more wars, destroyed more manufacturing, privatised more public services and made more billionaires than their so-called right wing predecessors.
Nearly thirty years of rampant capitalism has changed the world. Thatcher and her partner in crime, Reagan, unleashed a destructive counter revolution throughout the world. The solidity of the Soviet Union was broken. The market raped, robbed and pillaged nations in an insatiable desire for profits and the accumulation of capital. New and spectacular ways to lay economies to waste were invented. Finance capital has held sway, unrestricted by national borders. It has invented new techniques from hedge funds to private equity to penetrate every corner of production to make a quick buck. Even debt became a commodity to be bought and sold. A complex infrastructure of organisations such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the European Union (EU) has been developed to facilitate these processes. Competition for energy sources such as oil has brought war in Europe and the Middle East.
As if startled by the savagery of the enemy, workers and their trade unions have almost been stunned into submission. Today, our struggles have become isolated and defensive. The aspirations of the working class have plummeted. They are restricted by old ideas about partnerships with employers and by laws which strike at the heart of trade union solidarity. Having lived with the enemy for so long, workers no longer believe alternatives are possible.
As Communists we believe that British workers must develop a new form of struggle – a national struggle to control our nation, free from foreign interference, free to develop a socialist economy. We have to begin again, finding new ways to end the onslaught. The collapse of the finance markets is causing misery for millions of workers, who, as usual, pay the price. Banks are bailed out with billions while the real productive economy is neglected.
Our Party seeks to discuss these ideas with other workers and to recruit those who wish to become active as doers and thinkers in a new struggle for national self-determination and the control of state power.

Socialism and the nation cannot be separated. The greatest patriots are the greatest socialists. Capitalists have no allegiance to any country. Their self-seeking knows no boundaries or democratic form. The working class and the nation should be as one.

Possibly, as much of the writing exhibits a similar flavour. I am trying to ascertain any connection. One thing I am certain of is that although the Communist Party of Britain (CPG-ML) describe themselves as Marxist-Leninist, they do not seem to have many 'friends' amongst the more orthodox Marxist-Leninist groups such as the CPGB-ML due to certain 'idealogical' differences. Mostly this seems to be in regards to their position on immigration. They see the dangers of uncontroled immigration being little more than another device by international capitalism, whereas, the orthodox M-L position is one of open border, unresticted immigration.

A Vision for Britain

The Workers' Party of Britain has a vision for the future of Britain; that industry, and indeed the whole economy should be owned by, and organised for, the benefit of the working class.

Under capitalism production is ultimately for profit, and to the benefit of the capitalist class. Capitalism has decided that Britain can no longer survive as an island, or have full employment, economic growth, or even make a profit unless it is part of the European Union. Resources are wasted: - unemployment, factories and machinery idle or destroyed, land laid waste, and destruction of commodities. Workers can have no interest in unused economic resources.

To begin with we hold that workers are active, self-reliant, able to think and speak and act for themselves, and can as such change the world.
