The Anders Breivik Trial Empty The Anders Breivik Trial

Post by Celtiberian Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:20 am

Anders Breivik, the right-wing terrorist responsible for murdering 67 children and young adults at a Labour Party youth camp on July 22, 2011, was recently deemed sane for trial by psychiatrists. On his first day in court (earlier today), Breivik displayed no emotions as state prosecutors described the atrocities he committed. However, shortly thereafter, he could not help but sob as the court played a brief propaganda video he had made to promote his book, 2083: A European Declaration of Independence. It's quite obvious that Breivik has no remorse whatsoever for his actions, and yet he faces a sentence of no more than 21 years in prison. I only hope that, upon being released, the Norwegian public responds so violently that he is forced to live in fear for the remainder of his days.

I worry that the pernicious "Cultural Marxism" myth may continue to inspire further reactionary violence in the future. It is advisable that revolutionary groups, especially in Europe, take precautions to secure their meetings, demonstrations, and so forth.

Maximum 21 years in jail for Norway. For running around killing 67 people, mostly children, and he cries. I repeat:

Maximum 21 years

I agree, it's grotesque. I think that even our comrades opposed to capital punishment will admit that 21 years is preposterous, given the severity of Breivik's crime.

I do find it grotesque. I can see that 21 year maximum possibly (though I may not personally agree) defensible for a single murder but certainly not for mass murder, much less the mass murder of defenseless children at summer camp.

Soon he will make the court his platform, just like Hitler did. Insane to some, sane to others, a villain to most, but a hero to a minority. The best thing would have been to shoot the a*sehole after all 21 years and the swine will emerge to a hero's welcome.
Thank goodness it wasn't this country. Life here is 8 years. Better he's found to be insane, after all a term in a secure mental institution may be longer.

For those who may not be familiar with the Oslo bombing and Utøya massacre Breivik is responsible for, below is a documentary on the attacks.

I am normally doubtful of capital punishment as a form of punishment, but let me see if I'm getting this right.

He ADMITTED to killing 60+ people, mostly children, and they won't give him more than 21 years? Bullshit, he deserves the death penalty.

Hey now, let us not lose our heads. I am sure that the Norwegian correctional system will be fully capable of rehabilitating him. Surely, his life is worth the 21 years of effort.

The problem if he faced the death penalty is that ultra far right extremists would look upon him as a martyr to their insane cause.
For what he did a simple sentence of 21 years is not long enough, and it needs to include hard labour and efforts to educate him to the error of his ways.

Hard labor would not educate him at all. It may be a punishment, maybe even a fitting one, but it would not be educational. Most likely he would see it as a small cost for awakening Europe to whatever he sees as a threat to it.

I agree, if anything it would more than likely just cause him to just repeat his acts out of anger.
I mean he'll be in his 50s when he gets out, what reason does he have to not do it again?
