The Right to Die Empty The Right to Die

Post by 4thsupporter Wed May 09, 2012 8:56 pm

I wanted to hear other opinions (especially those from our more socially conservative members) of how we should deal with suicide. I believe its obvious that the rate will fall in a post capitalist society, but to say it will dissapear in all is rather foolish in my opinion. i want to know what measures you would take against it or if you would support the right for people to make that choice and how it will be delt with in legislation(if it needs to be delt with in legislation at all).

I personally think this is an issue that is overlooked or grouped in with medical euthinasia and is delt with in a inconsistant matter the majority of the time.

If someone wants to commit suicide, it's their business. As you know, I don't support governments. If someone believes they've made it to a point in life where they cannot deal with the stress anymore, then who are we to say you must live in contempt of yourself?

As you said, in a non-Capitalist society, individuals will not face hard economic troubles or bigotry, which are leading causes of suicide.

Well in extreme circumstances, I think euthinasia is fine for medical reasons like a person is dying from a terminal disease and there is no way to save them, or when a person has been in a severe accident and is just a vegetable for the rest of their life(although that is up to the family).

In other times when a person is just unsatisfied with their life because of their shortcomings, depression, etc I do not not agree with sucide.
Those people should be put in institutions to attempt to cure them, but the government cannot really enforce these kinds of laws unless the person fails.

Personally though I view suicide as the coward's way out, so my opinion isn't that great on it.

Let it happen, if they decide enough is enough than who are we to stop them. Of course, I would oppose it if it was someone close to me, but that's just the way the world works.

I find it good to know that most on the forum find it irrelevent to legislate against suicide in any way shape or form. but i indeed view it as as an issue that will need to be looked over intensly when the time comes.
