This is an enormous victory for Chávez's Bolivarian Revolution, in my opinion. And while I'm still skeptical about Chávez's decision to gradually phase-in socialism alongside a traditional capitalist sector, I'm still holding out hope for Venezuela.

Caracas, 18 Ene. AVN .- The Bolivarian Government, through its socialist production and management policies, has boosted Venezuela's economic growth. This is evidenced with the increase of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in over 200% in the last decade, as well as an increase in the profitability of nationalized companies and the raw material companies in Guayana, which have passed to be controlled by workers.

Workers control increased production of raw material companies

President Hugo Chavez stressed that by November 30, 2010, basic industries increased their production with the execution of resources close to 322 million dollars thanks to the contribution of workers management.

Chavez explained that it designed and established a financial strategy to improve the cash flow in the basic companies of Guayana (Venezuela's southeast), so the resources coming from the Chinese-Venezuelan Fund could be managed by workers.

“Thanks to these measures implemented by workers control and the Socialist Guayana Plan, in Sidor, for instance, we were able to produce 946 thousand tons of liquid steel more than what it was expected at the beginning of 2010,” he detailed.

Well isn't this strange... Just about every nation that moves toward Socialism experiences extremely rapid growth in the economy... Must be some goddamned Communist conspiracy!

Must be! But the reactionaries would surely contend that the "natural right" to privately own means of production (aka, exploitative property) eclipses whatever economic growth, equality, and solidarity may occur as a result of socialism.. Rolling Eyes

That's an interesting point, because some more moderate interpretations of Marxism are against privately owned means of productions, but not against privately owned possessions.

And I agree with this view. I see absolutely no ethical reason to collectivize property meant for active personal use (e.g., a home, car, computer, etc.). Such possessions are fundamentally non-exploitative.

That most likely depends on certain variables, such as acreage, arability, etc.
