Voting and the Tyranny of the Majority Empty Voting and the Tyranny of the Majority

This article makes a good point, that voting is basically giving away your power - as it leads to the tyranny of the majority (the dumbed-down masses, led by the politicians), particularly when dissatisfaction is expressed with the actions of a politician, that contradicts why the person was voted into office in the first place.

...and by extension...that voting reinforces capitalism.

"When we vote we give up our right to decide things for ourselves and we are at the mercy of career politicians who serve their own interests and those of big business."

"If things are going wrong or people start to protest against their decisions, they scapegoat minorities such as asylum seekers, so people don't blame the real causes, or they bring in draconian laws to put us in our place.(anti-terrorism bill). If we protest or take direct action, we are told that WE are undemocratic."

"We want a society without money or profit, where people use resources according to their needs and give according to their abilities."

I actually agree with this. I am currently an advocate of a single-party state with sole ideological authorization, but whether this power is vested in one man or a committee is up for debate. I believe that leadership is a function which must be selected by those who understand leadership, not to be relegated to the status of a bargaining affair.

I don't believe voting per se reinforces capitalism. It reinforces when the economy is a capitalist one, wich requires an organization (parties) with capital to run for office, so it's the other way around.

I myself favor a political system made of local committees, and a national committee, wich appoints the best men in their fields as "secretaries of state" in the various departments. No political parties would be allowed, and the local committees would be composed from workers of that local area, who would run the affairs there, and elect a representative among themselves to the national committee.

I believe that without the aberrant concept that one can amass capital without working such system would be fairly free from falling into any sort of spiral that would favour capitalism, since the country would basically be run like a cooperative company.

Worker's should run the means of production by force. Banded together, they can overwhelm anyone who stands in their way.

Voting is liberal nonsense. Lions don't decide what to hunt by democratic process. Lover it or hate it, ultimately you can't stop the workers running their own shit the way they see fit.

The trick is to raise working consciousness. Then the sky is the limit.

I agree. Right now, it is the day of the robber barons, but time is running out.

People have tasted unique freedoms, and they aren't going to accept the direction this economy and lifestyle is headed.

Voting is redundant on many fronts, as 'none of the above' is not usually included as a choice, whether by ballot, or electronic voting (for local, city, or state government), etc. Further, within a capitalist structure, limited power is given to elected officials, but rather lies with big business aims and directives, as well as the bureaucrats that are not elected, such as the banksters, and those who run the civil service, military, and law enforcement realms. The so-called leaders, upon being elected, often pander to the establishment.

Therefore, it can be deduced that voting is ultimately, to reinforce alienation.
