Shark Tank and Dragon's Den Empty Shark Tank and Dragon's Den

These shows are absolutely disgusting and show just how the way that the need for money stifles creativity and allows parasites to mooch off of other people's work. I know that the bourgeois need to act in their own interests or they will be swallowed up themselves, but that doesn't mean that they should be excused for their predatory behavior. I used to be only slightly bothered by the greed exhibited by these shows, but now it makes me positively sick. I just wanted to get everyone else's opinions of these examples of capitalism on camera.

Shark Tank and Dragon's Den Empty Re: Shark Tank and Dragon's Den

They are hardly the only shows that put a bad taste in my mouth. Indeed, most what what is aired on television does. That is why I rarely watch television. At least these do not place a group of degenerates in a house together for an extended period of time simply to capture the resultant filth on film or follow the vapid existence of spoiled celebrities with no relevant credentials.

Dragon's Den and Shark Tank provide a glimpse into capitalist reality. Apart from my disdain for capitalism as a system, I do not find the shows in themselves offensive, at least not when compared to the other mind-numbing selections that pass for "entertainment" in mainstream (consumer) America.

Shark Tank and Dragon's Den Empty Re: Shark Tank and Dragon's Den

It saddens me how the people who try to make a living for themselves by selling out a part of everything they will own in their business to the 'capitalist dragons' think they will be doing something to enrich their business finances and relation opportunities. A measly fiscal loan from the Dragons and they control ~30% of the new establishment in each case. This process is repeated for every economic adventurer they believe they can profit from. The haute-bourgeois continue to divide and conquer the soon-to-be petit-bourgeoisie's and (primarily) the proletariat's political power by use of mere wealth to gain control of industry and production immediately during the initial transaction. A hierarchy is thereby formed and they, the Dragons, will always remain at the peak of the capitalist pyramid without having to sell out any sort of physical labour on their part, whilst their newly founded petit-bourgeoisie henchmen and their workingmen are cuffed to them by metaphorical ball and chain. Imagine if the Dragons controlled every aspect of political economy. Not even the government nor the working class could do anything in their economic power to topple them aside from a non-probable revolution of socialist nature to restore the proletariat's relations with the means of production.

Shark Tank and Dragon's Den Empty Re: Shark Tank and Dragon's Den

I've never heard of Shark Tank, but Dragon's Den is indeed one of those programmes that I can't watch, much like The Apprentice. Seeing these people throw around money like toilet paper while the people they employ can probably just about afford to live isn't really my idea of entertainment. Alan Sugar from The Apprentice makes me sick, calling himself a supporter of the Labour party to somehow show his "support" for workers. My dad likes to try and defend these people as though they care for their workers and the poorer people of society in general. Interesting how these people will "help" those who they think will earn them more money in a few years time, but won't help the families that can't feed themselves. "Well I gave *insert huge number* dollars/pounds/euros to charity!" doesn't mean anything when it's such a small amount that it could be "stolen" from them and they wouldn't even notice.
